Great experience/staff very helpful. Recently renovated but our bathroom must of had a leak from ceiling so some mould developing. Only there one night so I never noticed until morning.
I would definitely stay again if the repair was made.

Although the hotel seemed very busy, our four night stay here had a very helpful staff and manager. The reception rooms for meetings/weddings, family reunions, etc. are available. The hallways, restaurants and hotel rooms/suites were very clean and quiet. It is in a great location. Our 3rd floor balcony from our suite (a two-floor, bath and a half loft that could accommodate 3-4 people) had a view of Mt. Etna! Daily breakfast was very satisfying and and the Happy Hour/Apertivo on the rooftop bar was a very good value. Our king-sized bed was very firm and comfortable. Would definitely consider visiting again--there is so much to see -- not only in Catania, but an hour-2 hours away are other beautiful cities to visit using local, inexpensive ground transportation which is right outside the hotel's doors! We felt very welcomed by the local people and just wish we had more time to enjoy the beautiful churches, museums, parks and restaurants, trattoria's, and pasticeria's! We'll be back!

"Airport connection - a bit expensive though nice"
Stayed there for one night - had to leave very early in the morning to catch a flight from Catania airport. The hotel has little pool - though it was chilly to swim. The hotel has a beach, though it is open from June 1st only... The restaurant in the hotel was nice but looked a bit posh (it is 4 star hotel). When arriving, call hotel to book you a taxi. It costs 28 euros from the airport to go by airport taxi. With hotel it costs 15 euros only...

"Excellent hotel for the price and great location"
The hotel is about 2 miles from the train station and what a view you get if you get a sea view room. The hotel itself feels very modern and clean and the staff do their best to speak english and be as helpful as possible. The fridge and safe were of particular use to me. The balcony is very good for early morning rays and relaxing. The usual continental breakfast has bread/meats/cereals/yoghurts/fruit and an array of drinks. I loved every minute of my stay in catania. The public transport is the only downside to the city as the bus running past the hotel (534) seems non existant and there is only 1 bus there and back most days for the famous mount etna which was incredible and out of this world like! You can get the 457 alibus from the airport to the station and follow the coast to the hotel. There are amazing restaurants very close on the seafront just south of the hotel and a supermarket just behind the hotel. A taxi from the hotel to the station costs €15 but buses only cost €1 for 90 minutes.

Nicely modernised hotel in nice old building, staff very pleasant, excellent breakfast, and ideal location near the impressive and lively central area; and even handy for the train and bus stations. Could not fault it. And Catania is a really worthwhile city to visit, so easy to take in if you are flying in to Catania airport.
We stayed at Hotel Royal in Catania for the first 2 nights of our 15 day trip in Italy and Malta. We still rate our first night there as a highlight of our trip! Through email, asked hotel to arrange a car to meet us at airport after 22 hours of travel to get there....well worth the 25 euro. We used this car service for other travel on Sicily.
First night my husband and I had agreed to "just eat at the hotel" because we were exhausted ---- what a treat! Food and experience ranks as some of the best we had. Hotel restaurant in actually in the Michelin guide and the maitre d'hotel was exceptional. We were surprised at how few were at the restaurant, but we went back to enjoy more before we left.
Hotel is great, location is excellent, view is superb. Would stay here again, and nearly did, but it was full on our return.

Primarily, it was the friendliness of the staff (plus the local shop-keepers and the other guests!) that stood out - an extremely amenable and amiable place to stay.
A couple of points to note - the hot tub shown in the website photos is only for the use of people staying in the penthouse suite, so don't expect that.
Secondly, the pool is lovely but not enormous - if you were planning lengths in an Olympic sized pool, this ain't for you. That said, the pool is located in a great little sun-trap but with enough shady spots to either choose to sun-bathe or cool off, it was really clean and plenty big and deep enough for three teenagers (plus the other guests) to lark about in.
Thirdly, the location is out in the suburbs of town with no amazing restaurants nearby (but the local pizza, patisserie and fish restaurant have decent food at very low prices) - but town is either 15 mins by bus or a 30 min hike away... You can take a taxi, and if you do ask the hotel to book it. Hailing a cab on the street is massively expensive (even by London standards). Or, take the free shuttle bus laid on by the hotel - either to the town centre or to the beach (the bus leaves the hotel at 10 am, and returns at 4:30pm so there is not much flexibility there - we used the free bus in the morning on some days and returned via public bus or taxi on some days).
Hotel decor is fab - my eldest said it was as if we had a rich Italian friend and we were staying in his home!!
