"If you need to go to Caracas"
In an inhospitable place like Caracas, Pestana is a great find and affordable. Staff is very friendly, even when service is someone slow (common in that city). Rooms are modern and very comfortable, and even on the second floor they were quiet. Location in Eastern Caracas is convenient for safety reasons, and being just off busy Francisco Miranda Ave, is also good. Metro station is close by, but inquire about safety before using it. Taxi service from the hotel is great; they never missed a call to return to the hotel, and you can even email the front desk for that; in a city were regular cabs are not safe to take, this is extremely important. You can even arrange for an airport pickup which is highly recommended, as you don't want to take an airport taxi, even the official ones. Food is not great and there are no restaurant within walking distance, but they are just a short cab ride away, and remember they will pick you up to return to the property.
I left the best for last, Caracas piéce of résistance, the rooftop swing pool and bar. In hectic Caracas this is paradise. During the day, it's even a nice to bring the laptop and do some work while overlooking the Avila. At night, the there is no better place to relax, drink some wine and eat some tapas, while overlooking the city light.
