My friend and I stayed at the Savoy Hotel for 6 days at the end of August. After a 3-weeks' trip to Brazil and Uruguay, it was a welcome sojurn at the end of our trip. The hotel is located in what appears to be a previously wealthy section of Buenos Aires, which continues to be a center of banking. Times have moved on, and the Savoy remains in a slightly shoddy but interesting, residential neighborhood. There are many very reasonably priced restaurants and cafes located within a 4-block radius, but avoid the McDonald's (except for coffee)...they cook the scrambled eggs complete with fragments of eggshells! We took the room without breakfast included, as the Hotel's buffet was large and expensive. Most places are packed at certain BA traditional hours, so try to get there before the local dining/drinking schedule kicks in. A favorite restaurant was Cervantes, about one block from the Hotel on a side street; caution: order only one plate for two people. There is a subway station close to the Hotel, which will enable you to reach many areas of BA. In a nutshell... the Savoy is unbelievably elegant with original art and design throughout beautifully maintained, a well-trained helpful staff, and conveniently located. It is easily the equivalent of international luxury hotels where I have stayed, but at 1/3 the price. What a find!
The rooms are big, super clean and comfortable. They are actually apartments so they have a full kitchen. big bathroom, good amenities, nice water outflow.
The staff is really nice and helpful. The sorroundings are amazing and you feel safe walking around. You can walk pretty much everywhere.
The only bad thing is that they told us that the airport transfer will be 410 pesos... but at the time the taxi driver charged us 440 pesos saying that the number was wrong. If you get an oficial cab at the airport the rate is about 300 pesos. They offer a tour to Tigre which I wouldnt recommend you to go.
Other than that I would totally recommend it!!
Absolutely no complaints. We were in a Club room on the 18th floor. Every comfort one can want. And if there was anything else, all we had to do was ask. We were worried because we had read some bad reviews, but truly it was an excellent experience.
This boutique hotel is a gem...una joya. I've flown more than a million airmiles on a global carrier and stayed at various types of places. This hotel is fantastic. The concierge, wait staff, bar tender...all spoke English. The concierge ladies went out of their way to help us with domestic travel logistics, show tickets, restaurant recommendations, airport taxi reservations, etc...far beyond what I've encountered at recognized chain name global hotel names. And there is no nickel and diming the guests! The internet access is fast and free. A delightful, abundant breakfast is included in room rate with ample selection for all tastes. It is very well located in terms of access to tourist areas and just off the shopping circuit. The neighborhood is well heeled with several 5-star hotels just around the corner but Club Frances has remained very affordable and focused on the amenities that larger hotel have long forgotten. Even local truffles and fresh bottled water every night (all included in room rate?). If and when I return to Buenos Aires, I would definitely stay at this hotel.
