"Good location for museum visits"
We stayed 2 nights while visiting exhibitions in British Library, British Museum, National Portrait Gallery etc. The standard room was adequate for our needs. The bathroom was a bit cramped and lacked places to put things; the shower made the floor wet. The venetian blinds let in a lot of light in the morning and we didn't discover the roller blinds behind them until we were leaving. Breakfast variety was good and the staff were friendly (though there was some lack of co-ordination in their activities).

"Good hotel for a couple of nights"
Its a nice modern hotel at a great location. We wanted a hotel close to St Pancras and Chinatown with good communications. The room was very small but clean and comfortable.

"Lovely place to stay"
I would stay here again and would recommend it to couples or young people traveling solo. I was traveling with my mother, and we booked very late for our trip, so it was hard finding an affordable room to accommodate both of us comfortably. Because "King" size beds in Europe are really the equivalent of double beds in the U.S., this room was a bit small for my mother and I, but the Clerk and Well staff were extremely helpful, pleasant, and accommodating. They provided us with a roll out bed and helped my mother bring her luggage upstairs. This is the only reason I say it's better for younger folks. Elder travelers might require the bells and whistles of a large hotel. But personally, I prefer the atmosphere of this place. The neighborhood is lovely too, with the Leather Lane market across the street (a wonderful place for lunch). It's no more than 20 or 30 minutes (by bus or tube) from anywhere we wanted to go. Though it's an easy walk from the British Museum, it's a bit removed (thankfully) from the thick of the crowds. The neighborhood seems more inhabited by locals. Also, the Clerk and Well was spotless. I hear they've opened a new place, which is great news since this one only has a few rooms.

Pocket Guide: London Bloomsbury 4 stars Independent Hotels

The fashionable residential district of Bloomsbury in central London, dotted with hushed Georgian garden squares, has drawn famous writers and philosophers through the centuries. Virginia Woolf and the Bloomsbury Set redefined the 20th-century novel here, and being the seat of the British Library and the British Museum, it was also where Charles Darwin formulated his historic theory of evolution.
