On the northern shore of Überlinger See, Überlingen dates back to the 12th century. The Münster St Nikolaus is the largest late-Gothic building in the region and has a 17th century wood-carved altar. The renaissance City Hall remains the seat of the city council, while the 14th century Franciscan Church has a baroque interior. There is a large thermal bath complex on Bahnhof Strasse.
