Good: The location was great, very close to the main Termini station for airport and many other transport links and within easy walking distance of a number of sights. The staff were very friendly and helpful, even when we arrived early. We were able to leave our bags with confidence and they even placed them in our room for when we got back from exploring a few hours later. There are a number of restaurants on the same block as the hotel and the one directly next door had phenomenally good food at reasonable prices.
Not so good: the room we had was a little dated and worn with a few missing tiles in the shower but it was very clean. The noise insulation between the rooms wasn't brilliant but didn't disturb us when we were trying to sleep
This was our first visit to Rome and what a lovely hotel, clean, friendly and the roof terrace was a winner especially at the end of the day with a glass of wine or cup of tea. Breakfast was always good and the ingredients fresh and plentiful. The reception staff were always polite, friendly and helpful.
I stayed at this hotel for a week from Sept 12 - 19. The room was very nice and clean and had a safe to keep my passport and things safe.
You can easily walk to many of the sites in Rome. Metro, bus and taxi stations are all in close proximity. My wake up call was right on time for me to catch a taxi to the airport. Thanks to Gigi, Igor and sorry to those I forgot your names. I will come back to the Borromeo next time I visit Rome for sure.
My husband and I stayed at hotel Lirico before and after our cruise. We would highly recommend this clean, well-run hotel, well-located just under 10 minutes walking distance from the train station (termini). We especially appreciated the hospitality of reception staff Tony, Massimo and Michelangelo.
If you like walking through the exciting and historical streets of Rome, this hotel is between 20-40 minutes from all the main sights, such as the Spanish steps, trevvi fountain (currently under construction) and the colosseum. Many excellent restaurants nearby and lots of fun night life at the Spanish steps.
Rooms are clean with plenty of space to unpack for a couple of nights. Very nice breakfast with an assortment of danish, cookies, eggs, cheese, meats, cereal, yogurt, fruit, juices and coffee or tea.
When you arrive there is one staircase to navigate with your luggage, but if you go inside to the reception area, they will send someone to help you carry them up. Then there is an elevator to get to your room.
The hotel offers good security at night, as well as a safe in each room.
The hotel will arrange transportation to the airport, if needed. The fee is €50 (€48 by taxi).
We were extremely satisfied with our stay there and would return without hesitation.
The room we stayed in was in another apartment block which was 1 minute down the road from the main hotel/reception. The building we stayed in had some old features, including an ancent wooden lift and marble stairs. There appeared to be residents living in the block so our hotel only had a few rooms available here. This was not a problem as there are plently of secure doors/gates.
The room itself was clean and the decor included some old-fasioned touches. The bathroom was modern and very clean. The only thing we noticed was that unless we opened the windows in the room, there was a lingering musty smell. This was probably from the drains and wasn't so bad that an open window couldn't sort out. The other thing is that there is little natural light in the room. Given that most buildings in Rome appeared the same, I think this would be universal, so no real reason to turn a room down at Belides H.R.
Breakfast was served at the main hotel block but this wasn't a problem since we were only 1 minute down the road. Breakfast was of a high standard: cereal, toast, fresh croissants/cake, yoghurts, fruit. Breakfast staff were attentative and friendly but also left you in peace to enjoy your food.
Our hotel was close to the city centre but a little out the way of the main tourist areas. We were able to walk to the Vatican in 10-15 minutes. We had a good choice of restaurants and cafes to eat in the area that did not have that 'tourist trap' feel.
Great hotel, the staff were very helpful and did everything they could to make our stay a good one. We had a lovely room that was cleaned daily. The breakfast was great, plenty of choice. The hotel is in a great location, close to the metro and 5 minutes away from the spanish steps. Would definately stay there again.
The hotel is modern and also simple. The design is great especially large wall window with balcony, you do not get that unless it's an expensive hotel. Really great for value. Staffs were all helpful, really pleased with the stay. I will definitely come back!
