Stayed there for 6 nights, 5 nights in a Deluxe room and 1 night in a Bungalow since all the Deluxe rooms had been rented out for our last night. The hotel is in an ideal setting... wonderful, clean, palm trees, lots of trees, quiet beach, about a 30 minute walk on the beach to downtown, lots of cheap restaurants (but very good food) and bars nearby (cheaper than in town!), friendly staff. The rooms are clean, air conditioning works fine, the mattresses a bit too soft for my taste. The bungalows are great, although the air conditioning seems to be too small for such a large room. Lots of food for breakfast buffet, very friendly staff serving breakfast, with a wonderful view of the beach. Worth every cent of it! Highly recommend this hotel.
"Clean rooms and reasonable price. A very nice stay"
Lighthouse is a relatively new hotel located across from the night market. Rooms were clean. Staff seemed a bit green but they were friendly and tried to helpful. Although not located on the beach it is walking distance the main beach in the area. Overall the hotel was a good value for the price if you're looking for a decent and clean place to stay.
This place has such potential and should be a wonderful experience but until the management is changed it will leave you with a sour taste in the mouth. We felt very sorry for the staff who tried so hard, and some of whom were very good in spite of language difficulities. I wanted to love it as it is beautiful and comfortable. It is close to Mango Bay resort which is great and also a beautiful stretch of beach 5 minutes walk to the right of the resort (facing the sea).
The problem is the management of the restaurant. Sometimes you were told there was no more water for tea, or to boil eggs at breakfast, or no more juice, but the main problem was there was no system in place, so you may be the first to order but find 3 or 4 other tables get served before you who arrived much later. On our final night, they were short staffed as many of the staff had left for Tet. The resort was full with only 1 waiter. Our frustrated waiter told us (after deciding to quit) that there was only 1 cook and dishwasher who had both been on since 6am, plus the receptionist, but the manager was out. 11 tables waited more than 2 hours to get their food, the atmosphere was quiet and angry.
The following morning when things were still bad even with lots of staff, a customer called the manager and lambasted him. He just blaimed everything on Tet and his staff saying that he would train them and then they would leave once paid. But he should have been there helping out. It will fail unless it changes.

Chez Carole Resort is set in a stunning location and has luxurious, private bungalows. On arrival I felt frustrated by communication with staff speaking limited English as well as an an unawareness of guest expectations of service. However during our stay a new, enthusiastic and accommodating staff management team started. They are to improve the quality of service. This roughly cut diamond is about to be polished into a beautiful jewel.
The resort is small enough to be cozy, and large enough to give you the comfort of a resort. The beach is better than average, if taking the nearby Saigon-Phuquoc as the average. The breakfast buffet is excellent for me. They have regular bacon/eggs/sausage... on the western side, but large selection on the fruits, Vietnamese beef noodle soup and Vietnamese rice soup with stew meat/fish/etc. are what I love and take everyday.
We got lunch and dinner outside, either in town (Song Xanh, Trung Duong, in and around Duong Dong market) or right across the street and they are good too. Night market is getting expensive and no longer be a good place for us.
