"Great location in central Munich for a short break"
We have just returned from Munich where we stayed at the Treff. As we had come for the christmas markets we only stayed for two nights and found this hotel to be near perfect for this purpose.
Literally 2 minutes down one street away from the Hauptbahnhof (central Munich) main station for busses and trains and only about 5 minutes walk from the Marienplatz. The only downside on the location (which is general for German cities) is the number of lap dancing bars and sex shops near by (so perhaps not best for families with young children).
The room itself was small (rather small bathroom doorway strangely) but very clean and suitable. Comfortable bed, TV with selection of German channels and some global news stations. Downpoints, very little storage space in the room, the supplied toiletries were not replenished during our stay and asides from a buffet breakfast which was not bad, no on site restaurant so consider lunch and dinner options elsewhere (not a problem when so close to the Marienplatz etc).
The best part has to be the staff, as a reasonably seasoned traveller I have often found its the staff that make or break a stay and they were all amazingly pleasant, helpful and jovial and really made the stay most enjoyable.

I was travelling by train every day of my stay and wanted the convenience of being close to the central station (Hauptbahnhof), which is 7-8 minutes walk from the hotel.
The hotel staff I met on check-in and check-out were friendly, polite and helpful, and could converse clearly in English when I reached the limit of my knowledge of the German language.
My room was very clean on arrival and cleaned by the maid each day. It and a number of others on my floor had recently been redecorated (there were temporary signs on the doors advising guests of this and asking them to take care of the new plaster and paint) and renovation was taking place elsewhere in the hotel. I booked a room with a kitchenette to give me the option of making myself something to eat if I chose to, but I wasn't in the room long enough each day to prepare anything for myself and I ate out instead. I did use the fridge each evening though to chill drinks. The fridge also contained a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic mini-bar items, and there were snack items available too. There was also a safe in the room.
The room didn't have air conditioning and I was unable to sleep with the window open because there was some road noise outside, so to get around the room becoming too warm at night I just left a window open each morning to keep the room cool and then closed it when I returned each evening, and I was able to sleep perfectly comfortably.
I would certainly stay here again.
Lovely hotel just reopened so very clean and in good condition. Location and staff excellent but there were some important features missing eg no mirror at the dressing table, no clock, no English tv / radio channels, no free wifi etc.
