Motril is the largest town on Spain’s Costa Tropical, a Mediterranean region known for its year-round subtropical climate. Sierra Nevada skiing is about an hour away. The town has a commercial-, fishing-, and leisure port; 2 main beaches; and numerous restaurants and nightclubs. Sugar cane, oranges, avocadoes, lemons, and mangos are cultivated in the surrounding countryside.
