This hotel was recommended in the Rough Guide so when there was just one room available for our dates, at short notice. I snapped it up - and we were glad we did. Yes, it lacks a bit of character but the upside of that is that the facilities and furnishings are very modern, and spotless. And yes, it's on a main road and is a bit noisy from the trams - but the obvious upside of that is that the trams are very close. However, the best thing is the position, and it isn't necessary to use public transport at all for the main sights. The rooms are a bit small, but the price is very reasonable for a city-centre hotel. The staff are very helpful and the breakfast buffet is varied and served in a very pleasant room, though our only slight quibble is that the coffee, orange juice and croissants are are usually better in Italian restaurants (but again, it's reasonably priced). The hotel doesn't do evening meals, but there is a superb restaurant next door that does - we went there for each of our five evenings! There is also, unusually for a city-centre 3-star hotel we think, a very pleasant bar. There is a charge for wifi but at least one nearby café has free wifi.
Amazingly clean hotel with modern touches. Has clearly been remodelled of late and undergone extensive upgrades. Botel still kind of feels old though but proprietors have done their best. Good wifi, great facilities and very well priced. Early morning departure meant I didn't sample breakfast. There are practically no restaurants near this one however so plan accordingly. And the area is sleepy suburban so don't expect anything by way of life.
This was a totally no-frills experience, yet my single room had well-functioning air conditioning, a comfortable bed, table and chair, free wif-fi, mini fridge...perfectly working bathroom. it was spotlessly clean. the room was very small and kind of sad - nothing on the walls - but it did the job very well. Good value for money, and very handy location in the centre of tow,

My partner and I chose this hotel based on the reviews here, and when we arrived we were a little hesitant since the building adjoins a McDonald's and there is graffiti all over the neighborhood. But all our hesitation was for nothing, and we agree with other reviewers that this is a great choice for a stay in Milan. Although the tram is right outside the door, it's better to walk to the Duomo (about 15 minutes) to see the local sights. The staff is very friendly and professional, and even though I speak Italian they were just as happy to converse in English. There is no parking on the premises but they do have an arrangement with a garage nearby for 20 euro a night (normally 30). Unfortunately we went to the wrong garage but still paid only 25 euro. The room we had was clean, the beds comfortable, and the shower was hot and strong. There is a decent breakfast buffet with the standard continental fare on the first floor.
We were awakened after midnight by a couple woman having a lively conversation in the hallway outside our door. After, we knocked on the door from the inside, they took their conversation into their own room...of which we heard every word through the wall...for another hour. Several times through the night and in the morning we smelt fresh cigarette smoke coming in through the bathroom. And the bathroom...well, the cleaning staff could, at least, clean the mold off the wall above the shower (the very narrow plastic shower) on a regular basis, if the hotel itself is not going repair whatever is causing it.
Milano's airports were our gateway at the beginning and end of a lovely 10 days in Italy. We did much better with an online accommodation from a well known apartment rental/bnb website on our way into Milano at the beginning of our trip. It was cleaner, cheaper, and more spacious. Unfortunately, that accommodation was booked as we were leaving Italy. With such competition, cheap hotels like Hotel Florence can't get away with being careless any longer.
