"Stunning stay! "
We could not have hoped for better and would definitely stay at Casa Grande again. Monique's hospitality was second to none and the hotel is within easy walking distance to all the sights. It is worth paying extra for the breakfast. Bodegas Tradicion was an excellent recommendation of her's - small, friendly, non commercialised and the added bonus of a great art collection. La Carbona is a 'must' for its sherry pairing menu and Jerez has numerous tavernas and bars. Cadiz was a great day trip. Monique is a font of information!

Very friendly staff. Small hotel. Rooms are small and a little dark. No TV in room.

"Convenient town centre hotel"
We arrived very late at night, having waited a long time for a taxi at Jerez airport. Access wasn't a problem and all was fine with the room. We had asked for a double bed but it was a twin bedded room - bit disappointing. Not checking out until 12.00 was good - meant we could go out for breakfast and a look around before checking out.

"A very pleasant stay"
We came to this hotel at the recommendation of the family of a friend who lives near Jerez, and we weren't disappointed. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and spoke excellent English, and gave good advice about the Semana Santa processions. The buffet breakfast was reasonable. The only downside was that the room smelled of smoke when we arrived, but this soon went with the window open. And don't expect much of a view!

"Traditional Andalusian style"
Really charmed by the look of this place - traditional old Andalusian building with apartments around the central courtyard, which is a mass of green plants. I loved the old stone steps and the landings, the ancient wooden doors. The communal spaces are delightful. The apartment itself is not strong on design! It's a real mismatch of odd furniture and fittings, but that said, it has everything one needs and it was spotlessly clean. The apartments are in an old part of town, a few minutes walk from the centre and easy to walk to from the station too. Right outside our window was a dramatic statue of flamenco artiste Lola Flores, in front of an old palacio and two hundred-year old olive trees. The staff who greeted us were charming and helpful. They also minded our bags for the day when we arrived before check in time, and after we had checked out but weren't ready to leave town.

Pocket Guide: Cadiz Jerez de la Frontera 3 stars Hotels

An attractive little town, Jerez is famous for sherry (a corruption of its name) and its equestrian school. Several bodegas invite visitors to see how sherry is made. The Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art is open to the public daily to watch training, with a show every Thursday. The big annual event is the Spring Horse Fair where the mounted sherry barons are prominent. Also see the 11th-century walls of the old Moorish palace.
