"Great hotel in an ecletic part of the city"
Living as an expat in Istanbul, I choose this hotel for is location and comfort. Karakoy is an old area of the city that has recently seen an influx of boutique restaurants and bars and the hotel is right in the middle of them all. Additionally, it's a short walk to Galata and Sultanamet--both must see areas for sights and nightlife. The hotel itself was clean, comfortable and the staff were very helpful and friendly. We were able to have a small party in the communal kitchen where we enjoyed fruity cocktails before our night out. I definitely recommend this hotel!

"Good location but disappointing service..."
Good location with an easy journey to the old town. Area around the hotel is also nice to explore. We stayed in a room for three, double bed and single bed. Barely any space in the room other than the beds. The hotel staff were not overly accomodating when we had issues with our transfers. Also, one day the cleaners didnt give us clean towels. We reported this to reception and, once we pushed them, they arranged for us to have clean towels. For a couple i think this hotel is okay, but for threes, recommend looking for a bigger room. The price was reasonable though.

"Great place for a break in Istanbul"
We spent 5 lovely days here in January 2013.We took the room at the top with a great view over the Bosporus and with the Topkapi Palace, Aya Sophia and Blue Mosque all in sight. The room was a good size for the two of us and the kitchenette facilities sufficient to prepare a small meal. The room was cleaned and towels replaced every day. The hotel is located in a quiet cobbled street. It took 5 minutes to walk to Galata Tower and the cafes/restaurants there, 10-15 minutes to the Istanbul Modern, 5 minutes to the Nardis Jazz club. Great spot. Zeynep was extremely helpful both before we arrived in organising hotel transport and answering miscellaneous questions, and whilst we were there.

"A Great Place for Independent and Gay Travellers"
For independent and gay travellers, Eklektik Guest House is a great place to stay. Located in the lively, modern section of Istanbul, Eklektik has a friendly, knowledgable staff, who were always eager to serve. They prepared plentiful, excellent breakfasts , consisting of a variety of cheeses, jams and jelly, bread, coffee, figs, olives, tomatoes and cucumbers and freshly squeezed orange juice. More than enough food to get you started in the morning. During our stay, half the guests were straight and half were gay. This created a warm and comfortable environment where you could be yourself. The staff was very open and progressive. The hotel is a ten minute walk (up a steep hill) from the funicular. The funicular goes to the main bridge connecting the new section of Istanbul to the old section, where the major monuments are located. The hotel is close to restaurants, bars and clubs along Istiklal Caddesi, the major commercial and entertainment thoroughfare in Istanbul. If you plan to go out at night, you would want to stay near Istiklal Caddesi. Eklektik Guest House may be the place for you.

"tiny room"
The room was tiny and in comparison to rooms I stayed in through airbnb it was overpriced.
