This hotel is in a fantastic location. Very close to all most of the major tourist destinations and tons to do around the hotel. Everything is within walking distance which is nice. The staff are friendly. There were some complications with hotel rooms (given wrong one at first) and at one point our door would not open due to the handle being stuck so we had to switch rooms. Staff was prompt to assist with the issue. The hotel room is nice enough for the price (we got 50% off because of a promotion). The showers are pretty old. Breakfast is fantastic if you wake up for it. Overall I would definitely recommend the hotel!
We went to Curitiba for a 10 day visit and wanted to stay close to the Batel District which we were told had a variety of shops, restaurants and was in a safe area to walk and enjoy the City.
Overall, we were extremely pleased with the Hotel, staff, location, cleanliness and surrounding neighborhood.
The staff was very attentive, spoke English and were extremely responsive if we needed extra towels or supplies for the kitchen.
The hotel was clean, inviting and there was a restaurant and shops in the hotel that was very convenient and excellent food.
The surrounding neighborhood was exceptionally clean and always had people walking, jogging, walking their dogs, window shopping, etc.
A nice urban park was just up the street and was fashioned after a Japanese garden with ponds, walking paths, seats and many trees and shrubs.
There was a cab stand near the park and the cost of transportation was very affordable. The city is built around easy and accessible transportation with many of the main streets having dedicated bus lanes to move fast through the city.
We constantly saw folks cleaning, and sweeping streets, cutting hedges, trimming lawns picking up garbage, etc. Very clean city.
Overall, we would not hesitate to stay at the Mercure again.
The Location is great... few minutes walk to Batel main venue
The stuff was absolutely nice and on the money
The facility is incredible... little gym but great pool and sauna..
Breakfast is not too fancy but right on
The five days I spent there seemed like an eternity. The room was small, although clean. The worst part was thea/c unit. It was a remote contro operated model with a hand held control. Not reading Portugese, I never could get it writht. It was either running fukk blast, which barely cooled the room or it would just shut off with the timer. This woke me up severl time during the night when it got hot and made it difficult to sleep in the first place. After a couple of nites I askfor assistance and was told someone would be right up. They never cqme.
The staff was nice and heklpful, but the a/c issue outweighed the best efforts on their part.
We had an unusual visit to Hotel Golden Park, Curitiba, Brazil, in the way that we stayed in the standard rooms for one night, and then the rooftop duplo on the next night, because of a booking mix up on our end. We enjoyed our stay very much, found the staff to be very helpful as we don't speak Portuguese but they spoke English, and had a fun time. Downsides were the shower in one of our rooms didn't have hot water, and the basic room is what you would expect - quite basic, but you get what you pay for. Nothing to complain about for the cheap price. Staying in the rooftop duplo though, I would very highly recommend. You get two floors and a spa bath and a rooftop barbecue, and our only regret is that we only booked one night's stay there. It was fantastic for the price.
My stay at the hotel in Curitiba Deville Center was very disappointing. I had booked a room with two twins beds, but when I got there I found was a room with only one double bed and a sofa that could be turned into bed, but extremely uncomfortable. After much negotiation the maneger offered me a small discount, which I accepted because it has no other option. The bathroom had the toilet badly positioned interfering with the door opening. The water tank placed behind the toilet prevented the complete opening of the lid causing the User to stay with her back bent when sitting on the toilet. The air conditioning in the room was old and extremely loud. For me it was a very bad experience my stay at this hotel. I know that the Deville network has several hotels throughout Brazil and certainly I can not judge everyone based solely on one experience, but the Deville Center in Curitiba I do not recommend to anyone. No point to highlight. For the same price there are certainly better options in Curitiba.
