We had a wonderful stay in Collioure. The lady at the front desk was so very nice to us even though we don't speak French. She gave us advice and insight when we asked questions on how to properly negotiate in a new culture. She was really wonderful. We had a beautuful view and a clean and pleasant room. As a matter of fact, our window looked out over a little plaza and in the morning, the local market was right under our window! We couldn't have asked for a nicer place to spend our one night in Collioure.
We found the duty manager for these studio apartments very welcoming and helpful. The studios were fine, clean and comfortable. The double beds were in fact sofa beds. The most awkward element was contacting the apartments by phone to confirm our arrangements. This was because of the unusual hours at which the desk was staffed. I don't think there was any reference to this in the information provided.

We stayed in a room with a terrace - I would recommend paying just that bit extra as it gives you somewhere to sit in the evening with a glass of wine. The pool was really nice and good if you don't want the public gaze on the town beaches. We had no car and came by train so really was access for that and a nice stroll into town. Staff were really nice and we had breakfast on two days and there was a good selection for you to make it good value.
This hotel was just what we expected and were hoping for - a no frills, very clean, budget hotel in a beautiful town.
Our room was comfortable and clean, and a tiny balcony (only big enough for standing, not sitting), was a nice bonus.
The bathroom shower and the hotel elevator were both absolutely tiny (almost coffin-like), the hairdryer provided was useless, and the double bed was really 2 twins pushed together - all of these were little surprises but in no way took away from our experience and aren't necessarily minuses.
The front desk staff spoke English and were helpful in varying degrees. One gentleman in particular went out of his way to give us information about the area and even lent us an outlet adapter at no cost. Another woman was rude and unaccommodating when we asked her to stow our luggage on the day we checked out. Luck of the draw - like most customer service in France :)
Overall, good value for the money, and I would recommend to other travelers on a budget who still want to be comfortable.
