excellent accommodation, cannot believe it was so quiet, food good, staff helpful, room clean and tidy, as you would want. Bed really comfortable. A little hard to find in truth, but would stay here again.
There has been an ongoing investment in this establishment since my last visit six years` ago.
This has meant a marked improvement in overall standards resulting in a comfortable stay in a spacious,modern room.
The "morning chef" was very attentive to my meal requirements and I left with a very favourable impression of "The Globe,Colchester ".
Booked hotel to have a little me time! Never stayed on my own before, so was a little anxious! I need not to have worried. The staff were all lovely & the hotel & facilities made me feel relaxed and comfortable. I had lunch & dinner over my 3 day stay and each time the service & quality was great.

The Hideaway Retreat offered a friendly welcome with drinks and cake on arrival. Guests have their own entrance separate from the owners and the room was very comfortable and relaxing after a day sightseeing. The owners are very friendly and provided a range of delicious breakfasts and lots of advice on local places to visit. We had a relaxing break here and I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.
Just about did the trick for me, but not great value. I struggle to understand how you are expected to leave your room key when leaving the hotel in a place that is alarmed until the staff turn up at 9.30 am. Would therefore suggest this is for people on holiday only.
