Formerly a rural district, the expansion of Oslo turned Asker into a residential area. The Skaugum Estate is where Norway's Crown Prince lives. Locals sail the fjord, swim at Hvalstrand Bad, and ski at nearby Vardaasen. The Asker Museum has regional exhibitions and smaller art galleries can also be found here.
