I've stayed in Ibis hotels dozens of times across Europe, but the Dresden Ibis (three adjoining hotels) are undoubtedly the best 3 star chain hotels that I can recall: staff were unfailingly friendly, the rooms extremely clean, and the nature of how the room was presented by cleaners, e.g. how they set the bed and arranged bathroom items, showed care more typical of a four star hotel. The only issue was the lack of free internet, however the availability of a business-package that combined internet and breakfast, for the price of a normal breakfast, made this a non-issue for me, and anyway there were free terminals in the lobby area. The breakfast and bar/restaurant were well presented, and typical of the friendly staff, when chatting in the breakfast room 20 minutes after closing time, staff invited us to take an extra cup of coffee and whatever else we wished and carry it to the outside table area so we could continue talking over coffee! This apartment hotel is incredible! It had the most incredible view - room 407 in building 2!!! - overlooking the main square in Dresden looking right at the Frauenkirche. I have never had such a view in the heart of old Dresden. I will definitely be back there again. A large comfortable apartment with all the conveniences of home. 5 stars. All for the same rate as an inexpensive hotel room. Peter
About 15 minutes walking from the central station and right on the edge of the old town. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful when asked to locate a local dentist. The room was not large but certainly big enough - we don't expect to spend much time in our room when on holiday. Breakfast was excellent and the staff worked hard to clear tables and replenish food items, plates etc.
