The title says it all. The hotel staff, as well as the people of Lyon, couldn't have been better. We wished we could have stayed longer in this beautiful city as there are wonderfully different things to do and with the great location of the hotel, everything was within walking distance.
In the heart of Lyon, walking distance to " rue Mercière " with all restaurant And bars, opéra, cinéma, theater And of course shopping.
The staff is very efficient And friendly, the room was small but enough for 2 people for a short stay.

The hotel may not be four star, but it is clean safe and comfortable. The room rates are also not four star, and you get more than what you pay for. What truly stands out is the friendly and patient service provided by the front desk staff. It is obviously a priority of this establishment.
Hotel de Verdun was our central location during our stay in France. It is an older building. However, the rooms are very clean and the hospitality shown by the staff was excellent. They were very helpful in recommending places to dine, how to reach various locations in the city and they were especially hospitable during our unexpected extra week due to the volcano eruptions in Iceland. We definitely would return to Hotel de Verdun if the opportunity presents itself and to visit this region in France once again. Our hotel was around the corner from the Gare Perrache where we could take the tramway to different parts of town. Our walk to Old Lyon and the main dining restaurants was about 10-15 minutes.
Not sure if the hotel is air conditioned which would be excellent during the hot summer days. Our room did not have a bar fridge. We are not certain if that is common in most hotels in France.
Overall our experience was great and we definitely would return.
Stayed in the executive suite, fully renovated and extremely comfortable. Nice hotel, amazing location with all at your doorstep.
The unfortunate part for us was that we were not aware of the renovations, we were on the 4th floor and they still had 1, 2 and 3rd floor to finish. Lots of dust which made it difficult to breathe.
The hotel staff was very nice in wanting to refund us but unfortunately the 3 nights we were there,1st leaving the 4th of October, 2014, none of the other hotels they called for us were available. The hotel staff was nice enough to compensate with buffet breakfast.
