"Perfect for short London stays"
Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the California, room was small like the other reviews I had read however it was perfect for my stay. Clean, practical and bed was really comfortable. I had a great nights sleep. Perfect location too, walking distance from St. Pancras station and Kings Cross underground. Would defiantly return and recommend to others.

Small but worth the price for so close to everything. We saved a ton of money with the kitchenette. Not a good space for large people.

"Nice hotel close to the train station."
We stayed in London for a couple of nights before taking the train to Inverness Scotland. The hotel was close to the station at Kings Cross, we could walk there to catch our train. The hotel is small but very comfortable, the included breakfast was delicious. The hotel staff were super nice and very helpful. We were very happy to have stayed there.

"Lovely B&B"
First, the bad: -The room was small -Lots of stairs -The plug sockets were in a bit of an inconvenient location -The toilet didn't have much sound-proofing which is uncomfortable if you're staying with a partner (and either of you are prudish)... I've tried to be fair and even here, but it was quite difficult to come up with that list. The truth is, our stay was overwhelmingly positive. The only ones of those that really caused us any irritation were the toilet (because I'm a prude with IBS), and the plug socket location, because I wanted to use the laptop in bed - a problem which could easily be solved by putting in an extension lead. The room was small, but it's London (so to be expected), and it was so well laid out and equipped that this really didn't cause any problem, and was actually nice and cosy. Now, for the positives. The staff were really pleasant and welcoming - from the staff on the desk who were always smiling and seemed genuinely interested in our day, to the staff serving breakfast downstairs. Breakfast, for those who are interested, is served in the basement, and there's a table with the usual cereal, milk, fruit, etc on, but if you want something cooked like a cooked breakfast or toast then the staff cook it for you on the spot - which is a very efficient and nice way of doing things (unlike the wasteful normal way of simply having plates with it on, which often results in flies or the food being cold).

"Above average hotel close to Euston Station"
Ideal location close to Euston, especially when travelling with 2 nine year old grandchildren. All four of us shared a room which still had space. Very clean and light with lovely en-suite. Very quiet during the later evening and presumably into the night as nothing disturbed us. Full English self-serve breakfast with very friendly staff. Free wi-fi which was easily connected, and remained so. 6/7 minutes from Russell Square tube station. 30 minutes stroll from Covent Garden and theatres. Reasonable price for such a good location. For those without children several pubs within a few minutes walk, most serving lunchtime food. Also several restaurants nearby. Would have no hesitation in using this hotel again and more than happy to recommend it. The only slight negative is that it has no lift and so the stairs could pose some difficulties for some people.

"A great little place to stay"
Really enjoyed staying at the Avenmore. Location was great - overlooking a quiet garden but only 5-10 minute walk to St Pancras station and British Library (which is well worth the visit). Staff were friendly and helpful and we were able to leave our cases at the hotel for the day when we checked out. Room was small (as is expected with London hotels) but clean and comfortable with all ameneties. Myself and my daughter stayed in a family room (one single and one double bed and ensuite) which was comfortable for us, but would have been a bit squashy for 3 people. Other reviewers noted that the hotel is overly warm, but we switched off our heater and opened the windows so it wasn't a problem. Tea and coffee was replenished daily and room was well serviced. Really appreciated the free wi-fi also. Stairs to our room on the top floor were steep and narrow and would not be suitable for people with lots of luggage or reduced mobility. Avonmore is a great place to stay if you're visiting London and we would certainly stay there again.

"Just needed a bed of the night"
Wasn't sure what to expect, but would definitely return. Lovely room, great food in the pub downstairs, wifi, a five minute walk to kings cross, lovely helpful bar staff, pub shuts at 11pm so no noise from bar. Just excellent really. Had breakfast in the bar, but next time I will have it on my room!you book the night before. Good system. Great selection of fair trade tea and coffee in room. En suite room small but had everything needed and a decent hair dryer, so overall, a real find.
