"Amazing location and big rooms!"
Stayed here for 4 nights and loved it. I have been to japan 6 times and this is one of the bigger rooms and bathrooms I have had. For being so close to Shinjuku station the room size was amazing, usually only see that further out. You can ask for a router when checking in and then you can have wifi in your room. Staff were friendly and just a short walk to East and West Shinjuku. Great Stay. Thanks!

"Excellent Location and Staff"
Staff were very kind and welcoming every time, was a really pleasing experience. Hotel location was excellent, convenient and close to the station. Area was vibrant, if you didn't feel like travelling away, local was never a let down. Breakfast and wifi provided, room cleaning was efficient and overall pleasant stay! Will miss the place especially the staff! Highly recommended for a stay in Tokyo

"Economy hotel, well located"
Just a few blocks from the train station and in a fairly quiet neighborhood. The staff was friendly and helpful, though it could take a little time to find someone as the front desk was frequently unmanned. This is a residence style hotel with tatami rooms. We had a small kitchen in our unit, which we made good use of. If you've not stayed in a tatami room before you should research it before doing it - it's very different from a western style hotel. We enjoyed the adventure of it and the economics are very good.

"Stay in Tokyo"
My family is satisfied with the hotel - simple and no-fuss. The hotel is located next to 2 subway stations which are very convenient for my family. Foodwise and with the vending machines around nearly every corners, my family is well satisfied.

"Excellent choice"
The rooms here are not big and not luxurious, but the location is excellent and it's good value for money. Overall, I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Tateshina. Yes, the rooms are small and the quirky bathroom feels like you are in a campervan but who cares? I came to see Tokyo not spend thousands of dollars on a hotel and sit in the room admiring its amenities. The people at the front desk are friendly, it's clean, quiet yet close to Kabukicho and Shinjuku station. Definately reccommend.

"Great stay great location."
No complaints at all. Although a bit old the hotel has great staff and everything is clean and tidy. Short walk to shinjuku station (15 minutes) and very short walk to the subway. Great good in every direction.

"It's a place to stay."
Hotels in Tokyo aren't cheap, so if you're looking for just a place to crash for the night without spending a whole lot, maybe the Haru is the place for you. Other than that, it's a bit dirty, the sheets and futons looked and smelled like they hadn't been washed, and the floors didn't appear to be well cleaned either. There were two air conditioners, neither of which worked very well (August in Japan can be brutally hot and humid). What I did like was the kitchen in the basement with dishes, cold/hot water dispenser, etc. as well as an internet computer if you need that. It was also nice and cool down there. The Japanese fellow working at the front desk was pretty cool; friendly and helpful, but be forewarned that hardly anybody there speaks much English.

Pocket Guide: Tokyo Shinjuku 2 stars Hotels

This sprawling business, commercial, and entertainment center never lets up. It is a modern Japanese phenomenon with shopping arcades, flashing neon signs, stand-up noodle bars, and side-street video screens. Some two million people pass through the train station alone. Futuristic-looking City Hall offers a free observation deck with great city views.
