Conveniently located near Jiao Tong University, a metro station, 7 Eleven, & Starbucks; clean bathroom/room; hair dryer and tea kettle provided; iron available at front desk; friendly & helpful staff, but they know little English.
I only stayed in Shanghai for three days, so the location of the hotel is my top priority. This hotel can be connected to the 2 major airports by metro system directly. Besides the hotel is within walking to all attractions like the Bund, Yu garden, Nanjing Rd...etc, and there are numerous inexpensive restaurants and shops around it. The staff are friendly, but with limited english ability. The room is clean, but if you are picky, you had better bring your own towel, soap and shampoo. After all, it's a budget hotel. I have no complaint
considering its price and great location..
Room is small but clean. Bed is comfortable, with wifi. Surrounding area not a busy one. If you need a good night sleep, and don't mind the area, this is a great place. About 8 mins walk from the metro line 3.
If your don't speak Chinese you need a translator. I used Google Translate in offline mode. It worked well and the staff responded positively. I like to walk and I found many interesting place nearby the Hotel. For long excursions to some of the central city, i.e. Bund, Nanjing street, the metro was about 2-3 blocks away.
It wasn't my first trip to Shanghai so I had already certain expectations in regards to the differences between advertised descriptions and what you get in real life. The reviews I read across the internet were all mixed (and most in Chinese) but I wanted to try these serviced apartments anyways for a change.
On my arrival they must have stuffed something up and put me in a room that was clearly not their best room (R520). It was fairly run down. A few items were missing or broken. The staff didn't speak any english but their manager/boss seemed to be always available over the phone and was able to help and answer questions and queries quickly.
On the third day they asked me to change to another room because they had to "repair" something in 520.
The new room one level higher had the same cut but was much nicer.
There is also a cafe/restaurant downstairs in the building but I never ate there. Just in walking distance are plenty of great local and international places to eat. In any doubt just walk across to the Cloud Nine Plaza.
This is not the best place for families but anyone else who doesn't need a five star treatment will be able to enjoy their stay.
PS: The reception is in room 622
