"Private apartment in the city center"
Our apartment was just off the Royal Mile. It was extremely conveniently located for the sights and restaurants. The apartment was very nice and bright, and it was great to have more space and privacy than a hotel could provide. The rental office staff was obliging and friendly. I would recommend!

"Brilliant hotel, excellent location"
Ibis is generally known as a budget hotel, but it's very good, and this one was no exception. Clean, comfortable rooms and the friendliest and most accommodating of staff. A week previously I stayed in a city hotel which claimed to,be 4* and yet it wasn't a patch on this. The location is perfect for exploring Edinburgh and everything about the hotel was great : comfortable beds, clean bathroom, good facilities. Breakfast seemed a bit pricey at £9.50 but there are loads of good value cafes in the vicinity which do a great breakfast. I would definitely stay there again. The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff was a huge plus. Thanks!

"Nice hotel close to Waverly station."
The overall experience was good as many things were within walking distance. However, there was a fire drill at 3:30 in the morning which threw everyone's lovely sleep off. Overall the hostel was a good place to stay when visiting Edinburgh.

"Decent comfortable hostel"
Quite a number of bars on Niddry street, can be quite noisy for lower floors. The route from Edinburgh Waverley Station shown on Google map is very suitcase unfriendly. Going up & down on rough road surfaces. Instead go to the Prince road exit, turn right and get on the North Bridge, then go down Niddry Street/Blackfriars St. No elevator, a hard work taking luggage upstairs.

"Great location, radiator noise, but good response"
We had an ensuite double room. The location is perfect - a short walk from the central station and close to all the sights of old town. The room was clean and the bed comfortable, good value for the money. The curtains were a little thin, but that didn't bother us. The breakfast is simple but certainly sufficient to start the day. Our main problem was noise from the radiators, which kept us awake most of the night. However, to their credit they compensated us efficiently and honestly when we complained. So, as long as they fix the plumbing (which I imagine is a temporary problem) we'd stay there again, and we cannot fault the way that they responded to our complaint.

The staff were helpful and friendly. The room was ok. The hostel itself had a great vibe. The only down side was being told it would cost us £20.00 to hire a towel. We ended buying a brand new one from a nearby store for less than half the cost! Other than that, we enjoyed our stay.

"Great location"
My room had 16 beds, that is to say, eight bunk beds. The room was huge, with very very tall ceilings. Never felt like we had that many people in the room. Decent amount of privacy. Bathrooms never felt crowded. Nice private showers and toilets. Plenty of sinks and mirrors. Awesome lounges to relax in. Awesome location. Most staff we friendly.

Pocket Guide: Edinburgh Old Town 2 stars Hotels

With narrow, winding streets and alleys, this mediaeval district is a contrast to New Town. Acting as the main artery, the Royal Mile begins at Edinburgh Castle and ends at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the Royal Family’s residence. Many tourist attractions are found in Old Town including the National Galleries, Royal Museum, and St. Giles Cathedral.
