We normally stay prior to catching the Ouistreham (Caen)/ Portsmouth ferry. This year we stayed for two nights and had a good tour around the D.Day battlefields. The Le Saint Georges survived the onslaught,it is traditional French chateau style, with character,(don't expect modern Ibis style) . Our room was spotless with ensuite, very comfortable bed, wifi etc, with a beautiful view of Sword beach. Lovely garden to the rear with parking. The restaurant is a beautiful area and the food is fabulous with excellent staff.
"Hotêl de Lion-sur-mer is a very clean, safe hotel."
The woman who runs the hotel is a little abrupt, but she is doing this all by herself from what I could see. She does have help with cleaning the rooms, and I actually saw the bedspreads and comforters being removed for cleaning. The towels are thick and clean. The windows work well, and the rooms looks like they have been renovated recently. Kiddy-corner across the street is a great pizza place to eat that serves wonderful salads, crepes, galettes.

Great location, calm, quiet room in pleasant hotel. Room had all we needed and hotel was an easy 20 mins drive in early morning to ferry back to Portsmouth. Beach is also nice, good for children and with cafes and shops nearby.

We finally found the hotel after the TomTom sent us on a wild goose chase. We parked, found the key at reception and were impressed at the standard of the apartment. The only downside was no mugs or kettle for tea and no proper bedding for the futon in the living room but we made use of what was available.

Hotel and grounds are lovely. It's only a few minutes walk from town and the sea. Breakfast was delicious and generous. Yes, they are renovating but it caused no difficulty for us. Great parking on site and chairs about the grounds to sit and enjoy the views.

This is a neat and quirky hotel with an excellent location. To get to your room with luggage can be a challenge. Very, very narrow spiral stairs....like climbing a ship's loft. We had an excellent view of the sea and slept well. Was a fun place to stay, but avoid if you are not up to the climbing challenge. We lucked out and found free parking on the street. Neighborhood is very safe.

WE ARRIVED LATE FROM OUR FERRY, ABOUT 2015. WE WERE MET BY A VERY CHARMING LADY WHO WAS RELAXED AND QUITE OK ABOUT THE TIME. SHE TOOK US DIRECTLY TO OUR ROOM, ASKED OF THERE WAS ANYTHING WE NEEDED AND LEFT US FOR THE NIGHT.
WE SLEPT WELL. THE FOLLOWING MORNING, THE BREAKFAST WAS EXCELLENT, PLENTY OF COFFEE AND FRESH FOOD. THE LOCATION WAS IDEAL AND VERY QUIET.

From the outside the hotel looks very nice, inside it was a little dated and in need of some general TLC. The room was very basic as expected but was clean. The staff were hard to find there was nobody on reception when we arrived or when we needed to check out in the morning to catch our ferry and had to wait some time after several rings of the bell. If you need a very basic clean room in close proximity for the early morning ferry then it is fine I wouldn't stay otherwise.
