Thomas Edison perfected the incandescent lightbulb and invented the phonograph in Menlo Park and the area was renamed Edison in his honor. The Art Deco-style Edison Memorial Tower was built on the site of his laboratory and contains a museum of the inventor’s work. The New Jersey Convention & Exposition Center, with more than 150,000 square feet of exhibit space, is the state’s largest event facility.
