This is a charming, well-appointed hotel in the historic section of the city - a short walk from plazas and restaurants etc. It was a very last-minute choice, and quite reasonably priced despite the location and handsome character (a converted convent). In fact, the ONLY downside was that the breakfast is very skimpy and served in a courtyard outdoors -- we were there in December and it was cold.

This was my second time staying at this hotel this year, I came back because I had a very good experience the first time. The hotel is really nice and reasonably priced. I love the fact that it's located in the heart of Down Town Queretaro and you are able to take walks any time of the day or night and enjoy its gorgeous colonial architecture. The staff was really friendly except for a couple of the women at the reception who were rude and unfriendly to me, this is the reason I gave it a 4 under hotel staff. The rooms were very clean and they are very good size. I highly recommend this hotel, I plan to stay there again in future trips to Queretaro.
My husband and I really enjoyed City Express Queretaro! Your breakfast service, shuttle service and coffee machine were our favorite things. On top of that, your entire staff is very helpful and usually happy. Your hotel is very clean and we appreciated the environmental efforts, the clean water from the sink and the free water bottle. The only thing I would recommend is that you let us know when the cleaning service comes because we were in the hotel room when they arrived so they couldn't come in to clean. I read reviews that said this hotel had cold water but once I learned how to use the shower we always had hot water. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who would rather stay at a simple place, save money and spend more time adventuring around town!
We stayed in 2 private rooms on the hotel (not hostel) side. High ceilings, comfy beds (by far the best of the 5 places we stayed in Mexico), "modern art" showers. Speaking of art, it's everywhere (walls, stairwells, painted rocks...). Nice bar on the roof with great views. One of our rooms was below the bar, so it was noisy until after 1 AM, but we're night owls so it was OK. (If you're not, get a room on the 1st floor.) One of the 4 of us had the hot water run out 1 minute into the shower (in the afternoon), but the rest of us were OK. Breakfast was hearty and delicious! Oh, and the location! It is just steps outside the walking-only callejones and plazas in the center of Querétaro! Without a doubt I will stay here on my next visit.
