"Hostel staff very helpful and friendly"
The boys at the reception were very friendly and offered to help me with my bags plus if I had any other questions. For the price, it was completely worth it. And there was free breakfast! Even if it was just toast, coffee/tea. Free WiFi too. Bicycle rental, good restaurants and a coffeeshop nearby

"Hotel OK close to the museums area"
We stayed 4 nights at the hotel, the room was clean, nothing fancy but it was not what we were looking for, we got 2 large towels at the beginning of our stay that we kept. As mentioned, we had to pay for wifi connection, but the connection was good. The hotel is well located, 5 min walking from Tram stop, and 10-15 min from the museums area and express bus to the airport. A lot of restaurants and cafes in the area as well as some small supermarket. No problem with hot water, good shower. The cons: very bad isolation, we could hear the street and our neighbours quite well, but ok with ear plugs. The curtain was not very efficient to protect from the light so a eye mask was also necessary if your are light sensitive and don't want to wake up at 6am! And a ventilation system to renew the air of the room which was noisy and make the room cooler, not very nice to wake in the morning! The bathroom is make of glass wall and door, not very nice at all for intimacy!

"A real gem!"
I loved this place. I was looking for an affordable, clean room in the heart of Amsterdam as I only had one night... The staff were exceptional. They all were extremely professional and friendly. I felt as if I were in a 5 star hotel by the way they treated me. The breakfast was delicious combing healthy choices with a local Dutch flavour. They are going through some growing pains... Working to have reception in this hotel so in the meantime, checkin and out is at hotel iris a block away. The stairs are steep with no elevator making it difficult with a large bag; however, the staff were more than willing to carry my bag for me. The room was clean. I liked the feel to be in an old stone building. And the wifi was appreciated. It was small, but it was all I needed as I came to see the city not spend the day in the room. All in all in was perfect for me. The people make this place extra special!!

"Easy, clean"
Easy to find. Near the metro and quite a few tram stops. Good location. A LIDL literally 30 second walk, they have 50cent euro coffee. Hotel was clean and good for base. Wifi a pretty slow, the only downside.

Pocket Guide: Amsterdam De Pijp 2 stars Hotels

The Pipe' (its derivation is a mystery) is a quiet residential suburb with a cosmopolitan bohemian air thanks to a large number of immigrants and the recent gentrification of the area by an arty crowd. Running through the centre, the daily Albert Cuyp Market is the largest in the city. De Pijp is also renowned for its restaurants which serve some of Amsterdam's best ethnic (Syrian, Moroccan, Surinamese, Turkish etc) food.
