"A Lovely Building In A lovely Querter of Town"
One must understand that the Westside YMCA is not the Hyatt Regency, it is the Y and a hostel. Now we can proceed with the lesson. The rooms are clean and suited to the primary purpose of getting a good night's sleep. I even had a room with a view, I could see Central Park and the Manhattan skyline beyond. The bathroom is shared, but not in military fashion, it is private once you get inside and lock the door. The shower and commode and sink worked very well and all was clean. It is quiet and perfectly located two blocks from Columbus Circle and the trains, plus great walking distance from all the wonderful sights of Midtown Manhattan! The clientele is a wonderful mix of peoples from around the wod and age groupings, and families. My next trip to NYC shall be stayed at the Westside YMCA! Oh! And I'm an old guy who likes my quite and privacy!

"Great location, close to Central Park."
Despite arriving a day late (airline cancelled original flight) the staff were very welcoming and answered my questions patiently and politely. Briefly disconcerted to find no kettle (only a coffee-maker in the room) my very British need for endless cups of tea was satisfied by 24 hour availability of boiling hot water, tea-bags and milk in the dining room. I enjoyed every minute of my stay at the Comfort Inn and would definitely stay there again as it suited my needs perfectly. The bed-linen was replaced frequently as were towels and bathroom toiletries, the room was cleaned to a high standard and at times which fitted around my comings and goings. The television picture quality was excellent and I made full use of the complimentary room safe, hairdryer and iron. The complimentary breakfast was to a very high standard, with plenty of variety, including lots of yoghurt, fresh fruit, fresh fruit juices, toast, bagels, waffles, muffins, do-nuts, bacon, sausage, omelets and so on. Finally, I enjoyed meeting and breakfasting with interesting and friendly people from many parts of the world - something I didn't experience on a previous visit to New York in a so-called "boutique" hotel!

Liked the charming old woodwork in old brownstone homes. Checking out colleges so it was a good example of how people live in NYC.

"Positively suprprised!"
This Hostel is really cheap for NYC and I was surprised by how helpful the staff was, and how complete the breakfast was. I stayed in a 12 beds femal room and upon check in they assigned my bed and told me it was important that i make sure I have the right bed to avoid any confusion later on. When I went to the room, the bed I was assigned was already taken so I went back. The person at the help desk offere to go with me back to the room and check on the situation. I told them I didn't mind as long as I had a bed for the night, they made sure to warn the person at fault and they found me another bed. They are very busy, since it is after all a hostel, but they make sure to help you in the best possible way! Also the free breakfast was much more complete than other hostels I've stayed at! I seriously recomend this hostel for any young person traveling to NYC on a budget! Great cheap place to spend the night and meet new people!

Pocket Guide: New York Central Park 2 stars Hotels

Buildings crane above one another to claim views of Central Park, a piece of real estate valued at more than $528 billion. Surprises abound in its 843 acres. The grounds include a castle, a zoo, several lakes, and an Egyptian obelisk. A city that never sleeps needs its quiet time, too: Central Park has six designated “quiet zones,” including Strawberry Fields, the monument to John Lennon.
