On a tree-lined bend of the River Dronne, this abbey town is quieter and more rural than many parts of the Dordogne. The main attraction for visitors is a medieval Benedictine complex, clustered around a prominent 11th-century bell tower. The wooded rock face behind is riddled with caves, some inhabited and one containing a stone-cut crucifixion scene. The Musée Rêve et Miniatures is home to a collection of dolls houses.
