My wife and I stayed at Noordin Mews for three nights in July 2014. Our stay was wonderful. From the beginning, the entire staff worked very hard to make our stay special and comfortable. As we checked in, our bags were hauled up to our room for us while we drank nutmeg juice and filled out the paperwork. When we finished, we were led to the room and given a tour and explanation of where things were in the room, how they operated, breakfast time, etc. Each day the room was thoroughly cleaned and there were various treats left for us.
The room was big, clean, and comfortable, decorated in a style reminiscent of 1930's Shanghai. There is a central courtyard where the pool was located. After spending a day walking around hectic Georgetown, it was a treat to come back to the pool to unwind and relax.
The breakfast was listed as continental but it was a full breakfast complete with choices off a menu. Coffee and a beautiful fruit plate were brought first. Each day we ordered something different from the menu and each day it was delicious and beautifully presented.
The only drawback to the hotel is that the location isn't perfect. The street and neighborhood are perfectly safe but it is a few blocks from the UNESCO part of town and is separated from it by a busy street with a giant mall. We were fine because we like to walk but others may not be so inclined.
Staff has been marvellous and very helpful. The hotel even had a pool which I was not aware of when I booked. Breakfast was a choice from a small menu. Our room was next to the pool and although the room was compact it was lovely with a four poster bed, had a fridge, kettle, hair dryer and all other little things that adds that little extra (lovely shower gel).
As we were next to the pool, it was a little noisy one evening when there were some late night swimmers but other than that is was very tranquil.
The hotel has lovely little areas to sit and relax or sit with your family and friends. The upstairs library is beautiful. The hotel is in the middle of Georgetown and very central to shopping, bus, sightseeing etc.
Only quirky thing was the bathroom. It was small and the shower was just in front of the toilet which liked weird but strangely enough worked and was not an issue.
Would recommend this hotel any time.
stayed there from 16 Oct - 18 Oct... had a very good experience from the team during my stay...
nice attitude... fast service...
glad i took up the traders club room which entitle me to the usage of the traders lounge...
would recommend my friends to stay there and of course my stay for my next trip to Penang with my family :)
Hotel is a newly refurbished shop house at Georgetown, which is in close proximity to key attractions such as penang street art , khoo kongsi, clan jetties, 3D trick art museum etc. It is also within walking distance to China House, a popular cafe/bar and other restaurants and cafes. The suite-keepers were very helpful and friendly and gave us an extensive briefing on how to navigate around the area on the day of our arrival. The room is cosy and comes with the necessary creature comforts for a relaxing stay. Breakfast was also included, and it consisted of nonya kuey, local delights such as roti prata and fried kway teow, fresh fruits, coffee/tea/juice. Overall experience was great and will definitely be back if I'm traveling to Penang again.
"The hotel room is clean and the bed is comfortable"
I stayed in air con double bed room and had free wifi to use. The room is clean and the receptionist is helpful. The hotel also very near to Kimberly street hawker food and walking to wall art area is just 5 minutes .Receptionist is also helpful
Though hotel room was a little small but it had everything we needed. It was very comfortable as well. Staff were friendly and were very willing to help when we asked for directions/to dry our wet umbrellas. There was complimentary breakfast and free snacks for the whole day till 7pm! :D we also appreciate that the inn has a water dispenser which saves us the trouble (and money) of buying mineral water from convenience stores.
Hotel room was very clean and facilities were great! Rooftop garden too.
