"Very nice Hotel, close enough to everything you ne"
Reception at the hotel was very good on arrival and were always very helpful to ensure our stay was as pleasing as possible. The restaurant and bar area was also very good, with a particular reference to Paco and his staff. The staff were disappointed to see us leave, so were we.Met a lot of friendly people during our stay, which made our holiday, really..Well done Palm Beach, we'll return as soon as possible..Well done Expedia and thank you !
Excellent central downtown location with all needed services (grocery, shopping, nightlife) City on hill so about a 15 walk to beach. Will probably return on next planned trip. Good warm/hot weather. Helpful staff. Sink in room, with separate male/female shared bathrooms for each floor rooms, but wasn't an inconvenience. No loud neighbors or traffic.
I was looking for a cheap Hostal near the Malaga Airport and chose this since it is only a 15 minute train ride from it. The biggest benefit: 10 minute walk to the train station. What's weird is that Malaga plays down the fact that Torremolinos is closer to the Malaga Airport than downtown Malaga itself. I guess the two towns are in competition for tourists.
In any case, this hostal was a lot better than expected. It was clean and recently redecorated with tasteful Ikea furnishings (there's an Ikea near by) and the staff were very nice. The building is located in a pretty, secluded garden-like complex with white stucco and a giant tree and lush landscaping. Plus a terrace. The only downside is that you have to walk on some dicey sidewalks with speedy cars to get to the beach, which is a 20 minute walk. I saw a recently dead cat on the way. However, I would much rather stay at Gerainos than some of the cheesy hotels near the beach. Torremolinos is not the prettiest nor most subtle beach town, but if you are spending a day in or near Malaga before heading home, this town and this hostal might be the ticket, especially if you are down on your Euros having spent too much of them in Barcelona and Granada, like me.

I was pleasantly surprised at the size of the apartment as it had a spacious living room and kitchen with crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils, fridge, hot ring and microwave. As the floors were tiled I heard some woman above me walking about with stillettos but thankfully they must have moved out after a couple of days as after that it was very quiet. The leather sofa in the living room is 30 years old and all the leather was worn off. This really detracted from the apartment as a whole which otherwise was in very good condition and tastefully furnished. The mattresses on the beds were unfortunately rock-hard so my sleep was not restful.
There was an unheated outdoor pool available for resident use. I think there may have been a lot of chemicals in it as I had a bit of a skin reaction after swimming in it every day. The pool is also very deep with no shallow end so families with small children need to be very vigilant. The wi-fi was quite fast (5 Mb speed) but unfortunately couldn't get signal in the apartment so you either had to sit in the hall or the downstairs residents lounge. All the programmes on the TV were in Spanish, a couple of German channels and BBC News 24.
The apartment is near the town bus station and a short walk to the town centre. There are several restaurants nearby if you want to eat out.
