We had a great stay at the Isla Verde Hotel. It is just a short bus or taxi ride from the downtown area but the hotel feels like it is in a safe area and the hotel feels very safe. To get downtown you can catch a public bus that picks up right across from the hotel and only costs 300 colones to tale you downtown. The hotel staff was very nice and super helpful. They helped us a book a tour for the next day and had multiple great dinner suggestions, as well as many maps and instructions for how to see the sights we wanted to see. We stayed here both at the beginning and end of our stay in costa rica. The hotel rooms are new and nice and clean. The hotel is quite although if you stay along the main street you can hear some of the street noise. The included breakfast was also great and very satisfying.

This was my first time visiting Costa Rica, so I wanted to experience the culture of the city. The resort is a beautiful private home converted into a hotel. The staff is very attentive to your needs and gives you the personalized experience you just cant get at a large resort. There is even a restaurant onsite with a private chef. If you want to venture out there are restaurants just a few minutes from the resort and convenient to the bus line. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Costa Rica.

My husband and I stayed for one week to celebrate our anniversary. The resort was fabulous. We really enjoyed ourselves. It is not really near anything to walk to so you will need to catch a taxi or arrange for a driver. I personally suggest Alessandro. He was friendly, personable, cautious (when walking around), he respected our wishes, on time and very knowledgably. The resort was very relaxing. There is no AC but the ways the rooms are designed, you do not need AC. The rooms are large and in line with the culture. There was no TV in the rooms but there is a TV room in the main area. The main area does have free Wifi which works very well. We have Verizon and I was able to communicate with my children (big added plus). The trails were great and very in touch with nature. If you choose to go to the Grand waterfall, take breaks. It's very challenging. They do supply walkie talkies for the trips (take them). They supply unopened bottle water, pepsi, juice and cookies in the room at no charge. We enjoyed most of our meals at the resort. Most of them we liked. The "continental" breakfast was the bomb. No need to order separate. Most of the food is grown there. Big selection and you can choose one or all of the items. We loved the Tower of Health. The staff was always there to help out. They are currently teaching staff to speak English. The views were beyond measure. Not enough room to brag. Well worth the money and trip.

We were extremely pleased with this hotel. Staff were very accommodating. It was so nice, after driving all day, to just be able to have a pasta dinner downstairs, which was included in the room rate. The breakfast was very good as well--something for everyone. The 2-room suite is so comfortable for a family of 5, including 2 teenagers and adult son.

We had such a nice experience at Hotel Grano de Oro. The entire staff went out of their way to be helpful. I believe there was also always someone on hand at the front desk who spoke English fluently. For our first night in a Spanish speaking country, this was such a big help! The rooms were very clean, and the restaurant was delightful. Would not hesitate a second to stay there again.
